When most people think of New Zealand, they think of its incredible national parks, the Kiwi bird, and The Lord of the Rings franchise. Although these have their merits, what should be front of mind is that New Zealand is home to some of the world’s best wines, exhibiting extremely unique and diverse flavours.

Since we have introduced New Zealand wines to our wine list, they have proven to be very popular with our Members and their guests. Introducing two of our newest additions:

2022 Novum Chardonnay, meaning ‘new’ in Latin, represents a new way of bringing wine lovers and Marlborough’s great vineyards together. The chilly maritime nation seems to pump out stunning Chardonnay’s, and this is no exception. Marlborough certainly has the vines and the local talent to carve out some stellar drops. Light lemon in colour with aromas of red apple and sweet fruit tea, lees spices and white flowers. Pure on the palate – dry, precise, with a youthful acid line, extremely fine tannins and a fine lees character.

At first sip, you’ll likely be a fan at the first whiff of this tensioned citrus, unripe peach and almond Chardonnay.  After a few, you’re given the choice between the world’s best almond croissant, or this Chardonnay…. bet you’d go hungry

“Novum deserves to be on every wine lover’s radar”

Pinot Noir. One of the oldest grape varieties in the world, and New Zealand’s most abundant red, this tricky grape put Central Otago on the (wine) map.

2021 Dicey Pinot Noir A hallmark wine from the Dicey team with a vibrant and polished bouquet of ripe cherry and dried raspberry. There’s a savoury dried herb quality set against barrel spices and dry stony soil scents. These complexities follow through onto the palate with a wine of texture, generosity and length. Firm tannins and acidity lead the palate textures with a core of dark berry fruit, spices and a touch of chocolate to follow. This is truly a wine of length and intensity, flavour and texture, pinosity and charm.

“Unpredictable and potentially risky”
