Read the complete interview below.

What was your reason for being at the Olympic Games?

My sport was rowing. I started Rowing at the age of 15 at School (The Shore School) and fell in love with the sport – it does help when you’re successful and winning. I remember the 1984 Australian Olympics 8 was training at our Gym and would watch them training. After watching them compete at the LA Games on TV I knew then I wanted to be an Olympian.

Which Olympics did you participate in?

I completed at the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games in the Australian 8 where we came 5th. I was reserve in 1996 Atlanta Games and then I narrowly missed out on the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games. After that, I retired from competitive rowing after 12 years in and around the Australian Rowing Teams.

Do you have a highlight/most memorable moment from your Olympic experience?

I have many highlights and great memories. A highlight that does stand out is the Opening Ceremony at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. A huge moment walking out with your fellow teammates to the roar of the crowd. The other highlight that year was the mateship I had formed with my fellow crew members and the rest of the Australian Rowing team members.

How has your Olympic experience benefited you in your life/career?

Being an Olympian has given me many great memories, friends and mates. You become a member of a Club that binds you together with great opportunities – a network all over the world to draw on.

Who is your favourite Olympic competitor of all time?

I would have to say the Oarsome Foursome (Australian Men’s Coxless Four). I had the great pleasure of rowing with them and against them domestically. Great blokes and great athletes and competitors.

What will you be watching at this year’s Olympics?

I’m a sports fan and will be watching as much as I can – you only get every four years to watch the best athletes around the world.

Why did you join Tattersalls Club?

The Club is like a family – great history, great tradition and great a great lace to workout and be social with other wonderful members.

How does an active lifestyle enhance your overall wellbeing?

Being active mentally and physically is the key to staying young and healthy.
