With less than 3 months to finish this year, now it is a good moment to reflect and review on your fitness goals for this year.
With so many end of year events, as well as the holidays period coming soon, it’s easy to feel too hard to stay on track with your fitness goals.
It is fine to relax and enjoy a bit more, but staying on track and not losing track all the progress you have made throughout the year is a challenge.
With proper planning, it is possible to enjoy yourself to the fullest, while at the same time keep making progress fitness-wise.
Setting fitness goals towards the end of the year can help you stay motivated and maintain your progress through the holiday season. Here are some achievable and realistic goals to consider:
- Maintain Consistency: Aim to stick to your regular workout routine as much as possible. Consistency is key, even if you have to modify your workouts due to holiday commitments.
- Set SMART Goals: Use the SMART framework (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) to set clear and actionable fitness goals.
For example, aim to run a 5K by the end of the year or increase your strength by performing a certain number of push-ups daily over the holiday period.
- Focus on Form and stretching: Perfecting your form can help prevent injuries and improve the effectiveness of your workouts.
- Stay Active Daily: Incorporate physical activity into your daily routine, such as walking instead of driving, taking the stairs, or doing a quick workout wherever you are in the world.
- Hydrate and Eat Mindfully: Drink plenty of water and be mindful of your eating habits, especially during holiday gatherings (balance is key so make sure you do take the time to enjoy yourself).
- Join a Holiday Challenge: Participate in a holiday-themed fitness challenge or event, like a fun run or class, if you are travelling overseas why not check out one of our many reciprocal clubs that have Athletic Departments so you can always get a workout done.
This of course is just a general guide to follow, it is important to adjust all these goals to your own schedule and availability. If you need help make sure to approach the great trainers at the Athletic Department; we also invite you to our end of year fitness challenge that will be announced soon!
