In 1938, in the city of Tijuana, Mexico, a group of friends met at a bar called Rancho La Gloria. One of them, Danny Herrera, noticed that the patrons, mostly from United States, didn’t really enjoy pure tequila, so he decided to mix it with other ingredients to make it softer on the palate.
After experimenting with different combinations, Danny finally created a drink that combined tequila, Cointreau, lime juice and ice. While shaking it, he starred into oblivion and named the drink ‘Margarita’ in honour of one of his friends Marjorie, who according to him was the most beautiful woman he knew.
The drink became very popular in Tijuana and soon spread throughout Mexico and then all over the world. Today, the Margarita is one of the most popular and consumed cocktails in the world. And so, thanks to the creativity of a young man in a bar in Tijuana, one of the most iconic drinks in the cocktail shop was born, and available at the Club.
