As you know, we have 4 new pieces of equipment in the Athletic Department. During the following weeks, we will be going through them one by one, giving you tips to get the most out of these new machines.
Starting with the Lat Pull-Down and Low Row
Since this machine is designed for both exercises, switching between the lat pull-down and low row is fairly easy:
- For Lat Pull-Down:
- Attach the appropriate bar (usually a wide bar or V-bar) to the overhead pulley.
- Adjust the thigh pads for a secure fit.
- For Low Row:
- Switch to the lower pulley for the row.
- Attach the rowing handles or bar to the low pulley system.
- Use the footrests for stability.
Key Form Tips:
- Engage your core: Whether doing a lat pull-down or a low row, keeping your core tight will protect your lower back and help you maintain good posture.
- Full range of motion: Always perform the movements through their full range of motion to maximize muscle engagement.
- Control the movement: Focus on slow and controlled movements for both the concentric (pulling) and eccentric (returning) phases.
By following these steps, you can effectively use the Lat Pull-Down / Low Row Machine to target your back and arm muscles with great precision.
