It was a warm, balmy evening in the heart of a bustling city. The hum of conversation and the clink of glassware filled the air, but there was one corner of the bar where something truly magical was happening. Behind the bar, Eduardo, a seasoned mixologist with a knack for blending bold flavours, stood smiling. He wasn’t just making drinks tonight; he was creating a masterpiece.

The idea for his newest creation had come to him on a rainy afternoon as he sat in his favourite café, sipping on a sharp espresso and gazing out the window at the drizzle. His mind wandered to where he’d once travelled and fallen in love with tequila’s flavours and spirit. Inspired by the elegance of Italian limoncello and the fiery zest of Mexican tequila, he decided to craft something daring that could marry the two worlds. He dubbed it the Mexitalian.

Here’s how to prepare it:

Ingredients:

  • 45 ml Tequila Teremana Reposado
  • 15 ml Limoncello
  • 30 ml fresh lime juice
  • 15 ml Ginger Lemongrass Jalapeno Agave Syrup
  • 3 slices fresh jalapeno (seeds removed)
  • Salt (for rimming the glass)
  • Ice block
  • Jalapeno slices (for garnish)

Instructions:

Prepare the Glass:
Rim an Old-Fashioned glass with salt and set it aside.

Muddle the Jalapenos:
Slice three fresh jalapenos and remove the seeds. In a cocktail shaker, muddle the slices to release their oils and spice.

Combine the Ingredients:
Pour 45 ml of Tequila Teremana Reposado into the shaker, followed by 15 ml of Limoncello for a citrusy touch. Add 30 ml of fresh lime juice and 15 ml of Ginger Lemongrass Jalapeno Agave Syrup, bringing in a balance of heat, sweetness, and depth.

Shake it Up:
Fill the shaker with ice and shake vigorously to blend the flavours.

Strain and Serve:
Double-strain the mixture into the prepared glass over a large ice block.

Garnish:
Finish by placing a single jalapeno slice on top of the ice.

Enjoy:
Sip and savour the bold combination of spice, citrus, and tequila.

The drink is vibrant in its colours and aromas, offering a story of two worlds colliding.
